Guardian News & Media (GNM) Announces WordPress News Plugin

Guardian News & Media (GNM) today unveils a brand new WordPress plugin, which will enable millions of bloggers across the globe to publish content from guardian.co.uk on their own sites free of charge.

The Guardian news feed plugin, which has been developed using GNM’s award-winning Open Platform, is the first full article news feed plugin ever released by a major publisher.

Matt McAlister, Head of the Guardian Development Network, said: “Last month we announced that the Guardian Open Platform is officially open for business, and the WordPress plugin is a fantastic example of just one way we are reinforcing our leading position as an innovator in digital technology.

“Bloggers will be able to browse through our articles on the WordPress platform, choosing which articles they wish to publish on their blogs. We will embed ads within the articles in order to build a global ad network for the Guardian, yet the bloggers will be able to keep any associated revenue that they earn on their own sites.”

To get the plugin, WordPress bloggers first need to register for the Guardian Open Platform, agree to the Terms and Conditions and obtain an API key. They will then be able to obtain the Guardian News Feed plugin from the WordPress plugin directory.
